SSStylish is an upcoming fanzine centered around the Devil May Cry franchise focusing on the theme fashion! Our goal is to explore different fashion trends with the beloved characters of DMC. We hope to see all characters from the games, mangas/novels, & Devil May Cry: The Animated Series (2007) in stylish attire!

✦ Accepted page artists are expected to create 1 page or 1 spread for the book/zine (with the option to provide spot illustrations for writers). Spreads are determined based on pitch.✦ Accepted merch artists are expected to create at least 2 merch pieces each.✦Accepted writers are expected to write 1 story that is 1.5k words in length.✦ Usage Rights: Contributors will retain the rights to their pieces but we request that all contributors not share, sell, or post full and final iterations of their pieces until 2 weeks after our shipping period. Sharing of previews will be allowed only during our preorders period (after final submissions) or whenever the Mod Team approves posting. More information relating to sharing previews will be made, with a provided template.

✧ General Application ✧
Requirements

✦ We are looking to accept around 30 page artists, 5 merch artists and 5 writers.✦ All applicants must be 18 or older by the beginning of the creation period in order to apply.✦ The main form of communication for this zine will be Discord. If you do not have Discord and are accepted into the zine, you must be willing to make an account.✦ Works presented on your application should be indicative of the type of style and quality you are willing to create for the zine.✦ Make sure that you will be able to adhere to the schedule. If you miss two consecutive check-ins without any prior notice or communication with a mod, you will be removed from the project.✦ Please make sure to submit a link to any platform that presents your best work. Your portfolio could be hosted on Google Drive, Tumblr, Twitter, Instagram, etc. Be advised to make sure the links are easily accessible.✦ You may apply for multiple positions, but please keep in mind you will only be accepted for one.✦ For the safety and comfort of everyone involved in the zine, those found promoting or engaging in any harmful material such as racism, homophobia, transphobia, pedophilia, incest, or sexual assault will not be allowed (either in real life or in relation to fictional material). If you are found participating in such, your application will be disqualified.
If you have already been added to the team, you will be promptly removed. SPARDACEST NOT ALLOWED.

✦ Make sure to follow our general application requirements above.✦ Please provide 3 samples that best represent your work, along with your portfolio.✦ Your portfolio should have 5-20 completed works that showcase your overall style.
This can be a google drive folder, carrd link, or other art portfolio platform.
Backgrounds are not required, but please be sure to share only finished pieces. We will not accept WIPs.
Have at least 1 artwork related to Devil May Cry either in your samples or portfolio✦ We are also looking for Spot Illustrators who are interested in collaborating with a writer to decorate their prose. This is in addition to an artist’s assigned page. If you are interested in this role, please let us know on your application.✦ Traditional artists are welcome to apply. However, you are required to be able to send in your final piece as a HD scan at 300 dpi. Samples should be high quality photos.

✧ What is a fanzine?

✦ A fanzine (or zine) is a fan produced magazine, usually centered around a certain theme or media. Zines are usually limited-run, can be digital pdfs or physical booklets, and can even include fan-made merchandise. Zines have no affiliation to the creators of the source material that the zine is based on.

✧ How old do I have to be to apply?

✦ All applicants must be 18 or older by the beginning of the creation period in order to apply

✧ What is the age rating for this zine?

✦ The age rating for this zine will be 15+ and may contain canon-typical violence.

✧ Will follower count have any impact on applications?

✦ No, follower count or amount of interactions on submitted samples will not be taken into consideration. We encourage anyone to apply regardless of the amount of followers they have. Applications will be evaluated based on the criteria outlined in the application information section.

✧ Are you planning on creating any merch?

✦ Yes! We will be producing both digital and physical merchandise to accompany the zine.

✧ How will contributors be compensated?

✦ All contributors and mods are guaranteed a digital copy of the zine. If the zine breaks even, we will be able to provide physical copies of the zine to all contributors, free of cost. In the case that the zine does not break even, the physical zine and merch will be available to be purchased by contributors at production cost.

✧ Are there any content restrictions?

✦ Beyond the already noted general guidelines, SPARDACEST IS NOT ALLOWED. Our stance is very firm with this. We are also excluding the Netflix adaptation of Devil May Cry (2025) as we do not support the director of the animated series.

✧ Will sexual content be allowed?

✦ No, sexual content will not be allowed or included in this zine. Please do not submit sexual content in your portfolios or samples.

✧ Will ships be allowed?

✦ Yes, background and implicit ships (ex. two characters holding hands) will be allowed in this zine. Ships will be allowed on a case by case basis, however this zine's main focus is fashion towards the DMC cast.

✧ Where will the product be shipped from?

✦ The zine will be shipped from the United States.

✧ Will you ship internationally?

✦ Yes! International shipping may be available. Please note that some restrictions may apply based on the country.
